Pool Table Room Size Guide & Calculator

Choosing the right pool table size starts with knowing how much space you actually have. This tool helps you instantly see which table sizes will fit your room based on your dimensions and your preferred cue length.

Pool tables come in different styles and each requires slightly different playing space. Below is a quick overview of the two main table types you’ll see on this page.

English Pool Tables

Commonly found in UK pubs and homes, English pool tables use smaller balls, tighter pockets and a more compact playing surface. They generally require slightly less space than American tables of the same size.

American Pool Tables

American tables feature larger balls, wider pockets, and a faster, more spacious playing surface. They typically require more room around the table and are popular for dedicated games rooms or premium home setups.

Enter your room size below and the calculator will show you, side-by-side, exactly which English and American table sizes will work — along with how comfortable the fit will be.

Check what fits in your room

Measure internal wall-to-wall space. Rounding to the nearest 5–10cm (2–4") is fine.

“Fits comfortably” allows recommended cue clearance on all sides.
